I had so much fun with Danielle and Ryan photographing their love all over Madison. These two badgers had alll the best spots picked out! We started the session at Monona Terrace overlooking the State Capitol. This is also where I will be photographing their beautiful wedding next June. It was pretty windy on the terrace, but they toughed it out for a few windblown moments. We really got so lucky with weather – the temperature and sunshine were just perfect. We walked over to the capitol building next. Everytime I have the chance to photograph a couple at this building I get so excited. It is an absolutely gorgeous backdrop for everything, but I think Danielle and Ryan made it look even better. We walked around the whole thing chasing sunlight while they were snuggling and sneaking kisses.
Our next stop was Memorial Union Terrace on Lake Mendota. The iconic chairs are the perfect setup for two University of Wisconsin Madison grads. The terrace was full of life on the perfect summer evening with so many enjoying ice cream and beer on the lakefront. We did manage to find a quiet spot with plenty of chairs to ourselves! When we walked down by the pier all the sailboats were out in the water. As if this session could get any more beautiful, the images of the two of them quietly pretending no one else existed while sailboats gracefully danced on the water behind them are breathtaking. We ended the evening by taking a few pictures in their Wisconsin shirts and my badger loving heart was so happy.
This session feels like Madison to me. I’m not sure it gets more Wisconsin than this – state capitol, warm summer sunset strolls, lakeside beers, terrace chairs and finishing at Bascom Hill to see the last few minutes of daylight set on the city. Danielle and Ryan, thank you so much for inviting me on this adventure around the city so close to your heart. I enjoyed finding all the beauty in your love and all that is Madison. I cannot wait to celebrate with you both next June! XO
