Sarah and Taylor have a weekly Sunday tradition of waking up and grabbing a cup of coffee somewhere together. Last week’s coffee date was extra special for their engagement session on Lake Michigan. The day before we were so nervous about rain ruining our sunrise plans, but they were so brave and confident we kept our scheduled plan. I woke up around 4 am to prep before the session and drive to our location and it was POURING rain while I drove there – the whole time. I was so sad I thought we were all going to be up early, all of Sarah’s beautiful planning for nothing. Just as I arrived at the lighthouse park the rain let up and the sky began to clear. The scenery was so incredible I was instantly gravitated to the lake, I could hear the waves crashing and I watched the sun peeking out behind the clouds. I am a little embarrassed to mention that I got so caught up in the beautiful sights and sounds, that I actually just left my car with the door wide open the ENTIRE time we were at this park – haha whoops! ( I love me some peaceful Lake Michigan waves, what can I say!?)

The weather ended up being BEYOND perfect for their session and just as they pulled up to join me a giant rainbow appeared over the lighthouse – is that even real life?! After exploring all around the lighthouse + picnicking with muffins and coffee, we went to take some pictures at the Dekoven Center – yet another beautiful location! The light and gardens here were sooo dreamy!!
